Argentina Residency

Together with my classmates I traveled to Argentina  to be immersed in the Argentinian music culture.  We spend two weeks working with the amazing La Sonora ensemble just outside of Buenos Aires.
The first days were an introduction to Candombe which is a music and dance style originated in African slavery. After three days of hard work we were allowed to participate in the 'La Cuerda'. The La Cuerda is a weekly parade through the streets of La Plata. This night of dancing and playing was absolutely one of the highlights of my time in Argentina!

After this percussive start we continued with Argentinian folk music and Tango. By singing, dancing, and playing all the parts, we  got an allround experience of the music which was completed with dance classes in the evenings.

In our second week we worked in the Children's Hospital in La Plata which was a beautiful experience of communication through music with the Argentinian children and a binding moment for me and my classmates.
