Lithuania Residency

Together with one of my favourite collaborators, Seth Scott, I was invited by Arthuras Liutostanskis to create and perform new work in festival Suspaustas Laikas  in Nida,  Lithuania. Nida is Located on the Curonian Spit between the Curonian Lagoon and the Baltic Sea close to the border with the Russian Kaliningrad Oblast exclave.
After some days of making and creating in Vilnius we left to Nida to share our work and meet the other artists participating in the festival. Everyday one of us would lead a workshop for the group and the local community of Nida. For me these moments became the highlights of the festival. We made a Nida soundscape and a nature painting installation which made me feel integrated in Nida and connected to its local inhabitants.

Besides the workshops there was time for us to create work inspired by silent movies which were projected every evening on a screen in the amphitheatre in front of the church.

Seth and I had a space in the local music school to work and experiment with all the ideas and recordings we collected during our journey. In the concerts we connected my violin to Seth's electronic set up through a 10 meter long cable. This gave me the freedom to move around the amphitheatre, talk and interact with the audience and play from different places responding to Seth and the projected animations from Arthur Ruttmann.
